Atrocities on Hindus in Bangladesh

Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hasan said that ‘harassment of Hindus is not communal’, rather it is ‘political’ (bdnews24.com 7 Sep 2024). Honorable advisor, if it is so, then why the Hindu youth, Utsav Mandal, 19 who has no political identity was killed? It is not just that, Utsab was killed in front of the police, and the military within the police station, by the madrassa students, because he was a Hindu. Violence against Hindus is all communal. If it is not, why are the Hindu temples being attacked while the Mosques are not attacked. You are outraged at Sheikh Hasina, she built 560 model mosques, why are not attacked? Sheikh Hasina did not build any temple, yet Hindu temples are being attacked, because it is communal persecution. Hindu singer Rahul Anand’s house was attacked and he was evicted, because he is a Hindu, even though he was not involved with Awami League politics? Ritwik Ghatak’s house is destroyed, because  he bears a Hindu name! Shall I give more examples? Honorable Advisor, you have visited Dhakeshwari temple several times, because the attacks on Hindus are communal. The Amir of the Jamaat also visited. The chief adviser too visited the Dhakeshwari temple because the attacks on Hindus are simply communal. The New York Times, Fox News, and the world’s major media published news of Hindu persecution, destruction of their temples. Still you will say that Hindu persecution is political. You are a religious advisor, dealing with religion, please speak the truth. 

In the same event, religious advisor AFM Khalid Hasan also said, “More Muslim houses were set on fire than the Hindu houses’. Well, according to the population census, Hindus are only 8% of the total population, then if 12 Muslim houses are burnt, 1 Hindu house should be burnt, if 12 Muslims die in lynching, 1 Hindu should die, if 12 Muslim girls are raped, 1 Hindu girl should be raped (should not be raped either Hindu or Muslim), if 12 mosques are attacked, 1 temple should be attacked, right sir? Is that what is happening in Bangladesh, honorable religious advisor? Honorable Advisor, you are most powerful now, you can give us a statistics from the government on that if you wish. Please do so, the nation needs to know this. Honorable religious advisor, the nation has been listening to this type of talk for the last 53 years, now that the country has become independent again, the nation wants to hear the truth and only truth from the advisors. 

হিন্দু নির্যাতন পুরোটাই সাম্প্রদায়িক

ধর্ম বিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা বলেছেন, হিন্দুদের ওপর নির্যাতন সাম্প্রদায়িক নয়, ‘রাজনৈতিক’ (বিডিনিউজ২৪ডটকম ৭ই সেপ্টেম্বর ২০২৪)। তাহলে হিন্দু যুবক, উৎসব মন্ডল, ১৯, যার কোন রাজনৈতিক পরিচয় নেই, মরলো কেন? শুধু কি তাই, গণপিটুনিতে পুলিশ, মিলিটারির সামনে থানার মধ্যে এ মৃত্যু কি হিন্দু বলে নয়? হিন্দুর ওপর নির্যাতন পুরোটাই সাম্প্রদায়িক। তা যদি না হয়, তাহলে হিন্দুর মন্দিরে আক্রমণ হচ্ছে কেন? মসজিদে তো আক্রমণ হচ্ছে না? শেখ হাসিনা’র ওপর আপনাদের প্রচণ্ড আক্রোশ, কই তিনি যে ৫৬০টি মডেল মসজিদ তৈরী করেছেন, এর কোন একটি’র ওপরে তো কোন আক্রমণ হচ্ছে না? শেখ হাসিনা কোন মন্দির তৈরী করেননি, তবু হিন্দুর মন্দিরে আক্রমণ হচ্ছে, কারণ এটি সাম্প্রদায়িক নির্যাতন। জলের গানের হিন্দু গায়ক রাহুল আনন্দ’র বাড়ী আক্রমণ করে তাঁকে ঘরছাড়া করা হলো কেন, তিনি তো আওয়ামী লীগ রাজনীতির সাথে জড়িত নন? ঋত্বিক ঘটকের বাড়ী ধ্বংস হয়েছে তার নামটি হিন্দু বলে! আর কত বলব ?    

সাম্প্রদায়িক ঘটনা বলেই আপনি ক’বার ঢাকেশ্বরী মন্দিরে গেছেন। জামাতের আমির গেছেন। প্রধান উপদেষ্টা গেছেন। নিউইয়র্ক টাইমস, ফক্স নিউজ-সহ বিশ্বের বড়বড় মিডিয়ায় নিউজ হয়েছে। এরপরও বলবেন, নির্যাতন রাজনৈতিক? আপনি ধর্ম উপদেষ্টা, ধর্ম নিয়ে কারবার, সত্য কথা বলা উচিত। একই অনুষ্ঠানে ধর্ম উপদেষ্টা আফম খালিদ হোসেন আরো বলেছেন, ‘মুসলমানদের বাড়ীতে বেশি আগুন দেয়া হয়েছে। জনসংখ্যা অনুপাতে হিন্দুরা ৮%, তাই ১২টি মুসলিম বাড়ী পুড়লে ১টি হিন্দু বাড়ী পোড়ার কথা, ১২জন মুসলমান গণপিটুনিতে মারা গেলে ১জন হিন্দু মরার কথা, ১২টি মুসলিম মেয়ে ধর্ষিতা হলে ১টি হিন্দু মেয়ে ধর্ষিতা হওয়ার কথা (১টিও হওয়া উচিত নয়), ১২টি মসজিদ আক্রান্ত হলে ১টি মন্দির আক্রান্ত হওয়ার কথা, তাই না? তা কি হচ্ছে, মাননীয় ধর্ম উপদেষ্টা? আপনি তো চাইলেই সরকার তরফ থেকে আমাদের একটি পরিসংখ্যান দিতে পারেন। জাতির এটি জানা দরকার। বলছিলাম কি, এমন সব কথাবার্তা জাতি ৫৩ বছর ধরে শুনছে, দেশ নুতন ভাবে স্বাধীন হয়েছে, জাতি উপদেষ্টাদের কাছ থেকে সত্য কথা শুনতে চায়।
